To determine if your device is eSIM compatible, follow these steps:
Ensure your device is carrier unlocked:
For iOS: Navigate to Settings > General > About. Check the "Carrier Lock" section. If it says "No SIM restrictions," your device is unlocked.
For Android: Go to Settings > About and find the "Network Unlocked" section. If it shows "unlocked," your device is carrier unlocked.
Check if your device supports eSIM:
Open your dial pad and enter *#06#, then press call. This will display details like your device's EID, IMEI, and MEID. If an EID (eSIM Unique Identification) number appears, your device supports eSIM. If no EID is shown, your device doesn’t support eSIM.
Yes, provided the dual SIM device is eSIM compatible.
You can install the data package right after buying it, just before your trip, or when you arrive at your destination. Once installed, the package will activate and start the usage period when your device connects to a supported network at your destination.
We recommend installing the package just before your trip.
Important things to note:
You’ll need an internet connection on your device to install the package.
Since the QR code is sent as a link to your email, you’ll need another device (like a tablet, laptop, or smartphone) to open the email and display the QR code on the screen. Then, use your eSIM device’s camera to scan the code. You can also ask someone nearby to take a picture of the QR code and use that for scanning.
I’m traveling to more than one country, can I purchase data packages for each destination and install them into my device before my trip?
Yes, you can. One of the advantages of eSIM is that you can add and install multiple plans/packages into your device and easily switch between them.
What is the difference between using an eSIM, a roaming SIM, and a local SIM when traveling?
With eSIM, you can easily buy a data package online at a good price and install it on your device before your trip. When you arrive at your destination, you'll get connected to the internet right away. Unlike a roaming SIM, there are no high roaming fees, and unlike a local SIM, you don’t have to visit a store or swap SIM cards. eSIM is convenient, saving you both time and money.
Our eSIM packages are for data only. You can use apps like WhatsApp, Skype, WeChat, or Facebook Messenger to make voice calls or send and receive messages through the internet (VoIP).
Note: If your device supports dual SIM and you have an active primary line, you can still make and receive phone calls or send and receive texts using your primary line while using the eSIM for data.
Can I reinstall my eSIM data package?
No. The eSIM data package can be installed only once and on only one device.
Is the eSIM data package transferable to another device?
No, it is not transferable. The eSIM data package can be installed on only one device and can be installed only once.
Can I remove/uninstall an eSIM from my device?
You can remove or uninstall your eSIM data package plan from your device but do note that once it is removed, you cannot install it again. Thus we strongly recommend that you only remove it when the valid period is over.
How do I check my data usage?
For iOS devices:
Go to Settings > Cellular / Mobile Data
You will find the data usage amount under 'Current Period Roaming'.
For Android devices:
Go to Settings > Connections > Network and Internet > Data usage
You will find the data usage amount displayed.
How many eSIM data packages can I install into my device?
You can usually install more than one data package (eSIM profile) on your device, but you can only use one at a time. To find out how many eSIM profiles your device can hold, check its specifications. Some devices can store 10 or more eSIM profiles.
Can I use personal hotspot and tethering?
Some eSIM data packages come with hotspot & tethering. Pleases refer to data specification.
Why do I need to turn on Data Roaming?
To use the eSIM data package, you need to turn on Data Roaming.
Note: For dual SIM devices, if you don't want to use data from your primary plan, make sure to turn off Data Roaming for your primary plan and/or disable 'Allow Cellular Data Switching.' Otherwise, you might get charged for roaming on your primary plan when you travel outside your home network.
